If you want your classic countryside farmhouse to really look the part – and be easily accessible for modern cars – you need a stunning concrete driveway.
That’s what these farm owners in Burnley thought, when they called Complete Driveway & Patio Designs to discuss options for their new entrance.
With a long straight dirt/gravel path up to their farm yard, access was impractical at the best of times. During winter, it was muddy and slippery, and gravel was often washed down the drive in heavy rainstorms.
Wanting to transform the approach to their farmhouse and make their driveway impressive, secure and in keeping with the look and feel of their property, they turned to our expertise.
Pouring the concrete
We began by excavating the entire 191 m2 driveway, digging out the foundations and laying the appropriate hardcore.
Then, we brought in our trusted suppliers of concrete in Manchester to pour the precise spec concrete onto the drive.
Their volumetric mixers ensured we could quickly and efficiently lay the concrete across the entire length.
Colour release and printing concrete pattern
Next, we added the classic grey colour release requested by the customer – a great choice for the rustic feel of the farmhouse.
We then set about laying the concrete pattern – an Old English Cobblestone effect. This was the perfect pattern for the property – it gave the driveway the feel of a classic cobbled driveway, without the hassle or worry of uneven, loose cobblestones.
The finishing touches with a custom name print
Once the full length of this concrete driveway in Burnley has been poured and printed – with a contrasting border – we completed the final seal to protect through the harsh Lancashire weather.
Where the customer had installed new security gates at the driveway entrance, we’d poured a concrete slab in dove grey and printed the name of the farm – Windy Acres.
It made for a truly impressive entrance – one that couldn’t be missed.
The transformation – Before and After
Needless to say, the homeowners were thrilled with their farm driveway transformation.
Not only does the driveway now look stunning and in keeping with the rustic period feel of the countryside farmhouse, it’s also highly practical – perfect for every car, tractor and trailer. And better still, they won’t have to worry about regular maintenance or replenishment of gravel.
It’s the perfect welcome for every farmhouse visitor.
