When these homeowners in Sale contacted us to say they wanted a complete garden transformation, they didn’t just mean a new concrete patio. They meant a complete transformation of the rear of their property – with concrete decking, a large concrete patio, a raised seating area and new decorative concrete all around their home.
They wanted a stunning rear garden to host guests all year round, and we delivered.
Replacing worn flagstones with beautiful pattern imprinted concrete
Our first task was to sit down with the homeowners and discuss their plans. They wanted a rear garden to be proud of, somewhere they could throw parties, entertain and relax in, whatever the weather.
Their current garden patio was looking rather worse for wear, with cracked and worn concrete flagstones, full of moss, weeds and black spots. It was usable, but it just looked tired.
It would be a bit embarrassing if you brought guests around, like it hadn’t been taken care of.
So we discussed plans for a complete transformation, measured up, and drew up the designs.
Full width concrete patio with raised concrete decking
The customer wanted to pave the entire rear of their property, from one side of the house to the other – over 20 metres in width, and 7 metres depth up to the existing lawn.
But that’s a large area for a single design and colour, and we wanted to bring more visual features in. We made sure to curve the concrete in line with grass, adding a contrasting border to frame the concrete. Most importantly, we split the rear patio into two.
The larger area – which would wrap around the side of the house, would be in a Royal Ashlar pattern (which looks similar to large flagstones) and a Bideford Buff colour. Then the second area, just to the side of the patio doors, would be a raised concrete decking – with a Pacific Boardwalk print in Tudor Brown colour – designed to look exactly like luxury wooden decking (but much more practical).
A raised feature circle by the greenhouse
To add even more visual contrast and practicality, we also designed and installed a raised cobblestone circle outside the homeowners greenhouse.
We laid out all the borders, ensured the base was suitably prepped, then built up the outline of the circle before fitting the concrete on top.
It will make a great area for dining or relaxing with deck chairs, and gives the homeowner easy access to the greenhouse all year round.
Extending the concrete patio around the house
As we we’re laying out shape of the concrete patio, we installed borders and a framework for the concrete all down the side of the house, replacing more old, worn pavestones with a stunning new look.
With the borders prepared, poured and stamped to the highest standards, the homeowners could see their new side path taking shape.
We matched the decking pattern to an area outside the back door to highlight another feature area, and erected a new pergola to provide shelter by the door, next to the house.
After pouring the concrete, we filled in the edges by the fence with new gravel.
Additional concrete front patio and driveway entrance
Alongside the main rear patio, we also installed a new patio by the front entrance to the house. It was only small, but it provided an attractive and welcoming sight for visitors to the home.
Where the entrance to the driveway had cracked and worn too, we fitted a new strip of pattern imprinted concrete with an ACO drain. This would help the driveway drain effectively during wet conditions, and make sure the entrance between the two driveway posts would stand out.

Needless to say the final results were incredible. The huge space in the garden had been completely transformed with new concrete patio, new feature areas, new concrete decking and full wrap-around path that looked attractive and was super practical.
It was everything the homeowners wanted. A truly impressive transformation.
